The Rules Behind Resale Markets

I did not start in secondary markets. Or even in luxury jewels.
But inside the market, the patterns look oddly familiar.

I was struck by it in my first week: a diamond and a second hand device are assigned value by the same mechanics.

Supply and demand
Price discovery
Brand and trust doing the real work when an item changes hands

Vastly different objects. Same underlying logic of commodity driven markets.

The forces are consistent, but the outcome depends on who shapes the rules and the story.

I have a lot more to say about what happens when brands choose to shape that story, or when they do not. But we will get there...
